Frühburgunder & Merlot QW Ahr 0.75L

An unusual cuvée from the Ahr: Frühburgunder and Merlot meet — two grape varieties that rarely end up in the same glass, and even more rarely from this northern red wine region.

The Nelles winery is one of the traditional estates on the Ahr, where the narrow river valley and slate soils create ideal conditions for profound red wines. Merlot is a true rarity on the Ahr; Frühburgunder, on the other hand, is an old mutation of Pinot Noir and is considered one of the region's early-ripening specialties.

In the glass, the cuvée shows ripe cherry and dark plum, underpinned by a hint of herbal spice. The Merlot portion brings melt and fullness, while the Frühburgunder provides lively fruit and a supple body. The finish is dry, with soft tannins and pleasant length.

Good with game dishes, leg of lamb, or a hearty pasta ragù. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
