Due Lune Nerello Mascalese / Nero d'Avola

A Sicilian red wine that brings together two of the island's most characteristic grape varieties: the lively Nerello Mascalese from Mount Etna and the fleshy Nero d'Avola from the south.

Cantine Cellaro is one of the major cooperatives in western Sicily that has focused on the island's typical grape varieties for decades. The Due Lune demonstrates what this combination can achieve: Nerello Mascalese brings freshness and structure, while Nero d'Avola adds depth and body.

In the glass, a rich ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose offers ripe sour cherry and blackberry, along with dried fig and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with velvety tannins, a subtle residual sweetness, and a lively acidity that keeps the finish fresh. The finish is long and slightly spicy.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with grilled lamb chops, pasta alla Norma, or a robust Pecorino Siciliano. Also an uncomplicated companion on its own as an evening wine.

Cantine Cellaro

Cantine Cellaro comes from the heart of Sicily – from Sambuca di Sicilia, where the sun beats down intensely and the vines root deep in barren soils. What is produced here is reflected in the taste: powerful wines with character that mirror this rugged, fascinating island.

The cooperative winery combines the knowledge of many Sicilian winemaking families and vinifies it into wines ranging from simply approachable to multi-award-winning. A lot of Sicily for your money – and genuine discovery in a glass.
