Dönnhoff Pinot Gris S QbA dry

Dönnhoff Pinot Gris S QbA dry
A Pinot Gris that carries more weight than most of its kind — powerful, with oak aging, but without losing the typical varietal aromas.
Dönnhoff is one of the most renowned wineries in the Nahe region. For decades, Helmut Dönnhoff and his son Cornelius have cultivated Riesling on steep slopes like the Oberhäuser Brücke and the Hermannshöhle vineyards, growing on porphyry and slate soils that impart minerality and vibrancy. Their Pinot Gris S , made from select grapes, demonstrates Dönnhoff's meticulous craftsmanship, even with Burgundian varieties.
Aging in new oak barrels leaves a clear mark: vanilla and toasty aromas underpin the typical Pinot Gris profile of yellow stone fruit, pear, and a hint of smokiness. On the palate, it offers plenty of volume, a creamy texture thanks to the oak contact, and a spicy, lingering finish. The acidity holds everything together and prevents the wine from feeling too heavy.
Serving temperature 12–14 °C . Pairs well with veal medallions with mushroom cream sauce, baked salmon, pasta with truffles or mature mountain cheese. Best enjoyed by 2027.
