Dönnhoff Pinot Gris S QbA dry

Dönnhoff Pinot Gris S QbA dry
A Pinot Gris that brings more weight than most of its kind — powerful, with wood aging, but without losing the typical varietal aroma.
Dönnhoff is one of the most famous wineries on the Nahe. Helmut Dönnhoff and his son Cornelius have been building on steep Riesling slopes like the Oberhäuser Brücke and the Hermannshöhle on porphyry and slate for decades — soils that ensure minerality and tension. The Pinot Gris S comes from selected grapes and shows that Dönnhoff also works with artisanal precision for Burgundian varieties.
The aging in new oak barrels leaves clear traces: vanilla and roasted aromas underpin the typical Pinot Gris profile of yellow stone fruit, pear, and a slight smokiness. In the mouth, lots of volume, a creamy texture from the wood contact, and spicy length on the finish. The acidity holds everything together and prevents the wine from appearing too heavy.
Serving temperature 12–14 °C. Pairs with veal medallions with mushroom cream sauce, salmon from the oven, pasta with truffles, or mature mountain cheese.
