The Famille Baldès has managed the Clos Triguedina for over 200 years – one of the oldest wineries in the Lot Valley. Malbec (called Côt here) grows on the limestone Causses high plateau, which gives the wine its mineral depth. A small portion of Merlot and Tannat complements the cuvée.
On the nose, dark plums and ripe morello cherries, plus blueberry, violet, and a cool hint of menthol. On the palate, firm body with velvety but present tannins – the result of long barrel aging. The finish is long, spicy, with a pull of leather and dark spice.
Serving recommendation: Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb, entrecôte with herb butter, or strong hard cheese. Those who bring some patience will be rewarded with more depth.
