Probus
Probus is a single-varietal Malbec from Cahors – dark, structured, with the typical depth that distinguishes this appellation from other Malbec regions.
The Baldès family is one of the most influential names in Cahors. Jean-Luc's father dedicated the Probus in 1976 to the Roman Emperor Probus, who, after Domitian's prohibition, had vines replanted in Quercy – a tribute rooted in 2,000 years of history. Jean-Luc continues this tradition: single-varietal Malbec, clearly focused on the grape variety, without any compromises in blending.
In the glass, the Malbec typicals of Cahors are evident: black cherry and blackberry , underpinned by violets and a hint of graphite. The palate is dense, with firm yet ripe tannins and a fresh acidity that gives the wine length. The finish remains spicy, with a slight peppery note.
