Château Rauzan-Ségla Margaux AOP,

Château Rauzan-Ségla Margaux AOP,
Second Grand Cru Classé from Margaux — and one of the most consistent estates in the Médoc. The Rauzan-Ségla shows what Margaux stands for: elegance with substance, fruit with structure.
The winery dates back to 1661 and has belonged to the Chanel group since 1994, which has fundamentally renovated it. The sites are located on deep gravel soil right next to Château Margaux — an address that is noticeable in the glass. Vinification is traditional, with long maceration time and aging in French barriques.
In the glass, deep purple red. In the nose, blackberry, plum, and blueberry, underpinned by notes of violets, dark chocolate, and a hint of cedar wood. On the palate, medium to full body, velvety tannins, lively acidity — typical for the appellation. The finish is long, with light roasted aromas from the barrique contact.
- Food: Rack of lamb with herb crust, duck breast, mature Mimolette, or truffle risotto
- Temperature: 16–18 °C, feel free to decant an hour beforehand
