Cecchi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the classic great wines of Tuscany — structured, dark-fruited and with the typical Sangiovese backbone that carries it for years.

Cecchi is a Tuscan family business based in Castellina in Chianti, producing wines from the region's most important appellations for over 120 years. The grapes for this Vino Nobile come from vineyards surrounding the town of Montepulciano in southern Tuscany—hilly terrain with clay and sandy soils at altitudes of 250 to 600 meters. The grape variety used here is Prugnolo Gentile , a local clone of Sangiovese known for its greater structure and depth. A minimum of two years of aging is required for DOCG status.

In the glass, the wine displays aromas of blackberry, red plum, and violet, underpinned by a hint of tobacco and spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, with lively acidity and firm tannins, the finish is long and slightly mineral. Awarded gold at the Berlin Wine Trophy 2022 and 89 points by Weinwirtschaft 2021.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, venison ragù on pappardelle or aged Pecorino cheese.

Cecchi

Cecchi – a Tuscan family winery with humble beginnings. In 1893, Luigi Cecchi started as a wine merchant; in 1900, he and his son Cesare created the Cecchi brand. Today, Cesare and Andrea run the company. Cecchi produces wine in various regions of Tuscany – and more recently, in Umbria. Dynamic, yet deeply rooted. Always seeking the next step, without losing sight of its heritage. The wines? Graceful, warm, approachable. Just like Andrea Cecchi: a Tuscan gentleman with style. Cecchi – Tuscany to drink.
