Cecchi La Mora Morellino di Scansano DOCG

Morellino di Scansano is Sangiovese as it thrives in the Maremma: somewhat meatier, sun-ripened, with more melt than its relatives from the Chianti Classico core.

Cecchi, rooted in Tuscany since 1893, vinifies La Mora from grapes grown in the southern Tuscan hills around Scansano – clay and loam soils at 400 meters altitude, with significant temperature variations between day and night. This preserves the acidity, which is often lacking in Maremma wines.

In the glass, La Mora displays ripe blackberry and sour cherry, along with a hint of violet and leather. On the palate, soft, well-integrated tannins, medium body, and a spicy finish with a touch of tobacco. Not a heavy wine, but one with substance.

Recommended serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, grilled entrecôte, Pecorino Toscano, or mushroom dishes with thyme. Ready to drink now, but will keep easily until 2027.

Great wine at a fair price

Maremma at its best! Super wine, balanced aromas, rounded finish. Also recommended for a cozy summer evening.

Cecchi

Cecchi – a Tuscan family winery with humble beginnings. In 1893, Luigi Cecchi started as a wine merchant; in 1900, he and his son Cesare created the Cecchi brand. Today, Cesare and Andrea run the company. Cecchi produces wine in various regions of Tuscany – and more recently, in Umbria. Dynamic, yet deeply rooted. Always seeking the next step, without losing sight of its heritage. The wines? Graceful, warm, approachable. Just like Andrea Cecchi: a Tuscan gentleman with style. Cecchi – Tuscany to drink.
