Cave St. Pierre Alpes Fendant du Valais

Chasselas — called Fendant in Valais — is the soul of Swiss white wine. This bottle from the canton of Valais shows why the grape variety has worked so well there for generations: light body, lively acidity, unobtrusive and yet present.

The Cave St. Pierre vinifies in the classic Valais style — designed for freshness, without wood aging. Valais is the driest region in Switzerland, favored by the Foehn wind and the protective Alpine chains. The soils of gneiss and slate give the Fendant its characteristic minerality.

In the glass, it shows pale straw yellow. On the nose, pear juice, white peach, and a hint of lemon verbena. On the palate, crisp, with mild acidity and a slightly mineral-stony finish — dry, lean, direct. Not a wine for pondering, but for spontaneous pouring.

Cave St. Pierre

Imagine: vineyards nestled in a gigantic rock basin, above them a sky aglow with the Valais sun. Right here, in the heart of Valais, the wines of Cave St-Pierre are created. Nearly three hundred people tend the vines here – with genuine dedication and respect for a nature that is anything but tame. You can taste this connection to the land in every glass: powerful, rich, and distinctive. Cave St-Pierre cultivates traditional Valais grape varieties and relies on artisanal skills passed down through generations. Whether the elegant Réserve des Administrateurs or the ungrafted Maurice Gay 1883 line – behind every wine lies the story of a place that will captivate you.
