The oldest Frescobaldi estate, Tenuta di Castiglioni, has been in the family since the 11th century. Around the year 1300, the foundation was laid at Castiglioni for the Frescobaldi family's magnificent winemaking tradition. This important Chianti estate lies in a gently rolling, well-ventilated landscape. The vegetation is typical of the Mediterranean, with predominantly oak, hornbeam, pine, and broom. The warm, dry microclimate, with gentle sea breezes and sandy-clay soils, imparts a distinct wild berry note to the bouquet of Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni, finely interwoven with mineral notes and very subtle aromas of cocoa, tobacco, vanilla, and cinnamon. Aged for 12 months in barriques and refined for two months in the bottle, this exceptionally harmonious, juicy red wine with an elegant finish reaches the connoisseur, its style ideally combining tradition and modernity.
