An accessible Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile's most famous winery — fruit-forward, structured, and with clear contours.
Concha y Toro has been rooted in Chile since 1883 and is one of the largest wineries in South America. The Casillero del Diablo — named after the wine cellar that founder Don Melchor allegedly spread rumors about as a devil's hideout to keep thieves away — comes from the Central Valley, where the continental climate with dry summers and cool nights creates optimal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon.
In the glass, it shows a bright dark ruby red with violet edges. On the nose, ripe blackcurrant, dark plum, and a clear hint of vanilla — the result of short wood aging. On the palate, velvety tannin, medium body, fresh fruit in the finish without excessive warmth.

Yes, completely dry. The fruit tastes ripe and juicy, but comes without residual sugar — the finish remains fresh and clear.
What does the Cabernet Sauvignon pair best with?
Grilled beef steak or leg of lamb with herbs are the obvious companions. It also works well with braised veal or game. As a cheese pairing, mature Manchego is recommended.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best at 16–18 °C — i.e., slightly chilled from the cellar, not from the warm living room. At room temperature above 20 °C, the alcohol quickly becomes dominant.
How long is the wine drinkable after opening?
Sealed with a wine stopper or vacuum pump, it will keep in the fridge for two to three days. After that, the fruit loses freshness, but the structure remains intact.
Where does the name Casillero del Diablo come from?
The name goes back to winery founder Don Melchor, who allegedly spread the rumor that his wine cellar was inhabited by the devil — to keep thieves away. Concha y Toro has been producing the wine in the Chilean Central Valley since 1883.
The Winery
Concha Y Toro is a winery from Chile and was founded in 1883 by Melchor Santiago de Concha y Cerda and his wife Emiliana Subercaseaux. It is based in the city of Pirque (Cordillera region), south of the city of Santiago de Chile. Concha Y Toro is the largest winery in South America with a vineyard area of 9000 ha, the majority of which is located in Chile.
Some sites are additionally located in neighboring Argentina. Cultivated grape varieties include Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, or Carmenere. Concha Y Toro exports its products to 135 countries worldwide and has held a premium partnership with the English record football club Manchester United since 2010.
