Bollinger La Grande Année Magnum 1.5L

The Bollinger La Grande Année 1.5L Magnum presents itself in straw yellow with light golden reflections, powerful yet fine on the entry. The large format allows it to mature more slowly than a standard bottle, thereby granting it additional creaminess and depth.

Bollinger, based in Aÿ in the heart of Champagne since 1829, ferments parts of its base wines in barriques – a tradition that gives the Chardonnay in this cuvée delicately integrated oak notes and a fine, chalky minerality.

On the nose, white flowers, ripe pear, and citrus fruits such as lime and lemon open up, underscored by the subtle barrel notes. On the palate, the champagne feels juicy and lively: tart, fresh citrus notes, summer apples, and a hint of herbs meet a vibrant acidity that provides tension. The finish remains long and salty-mineral.

Serve the Grande Année at 10 to 12 °C in a slender white wine glass so that the aromas can unfold. It pairs well with pan-seared scallops, sweetbreads, or simply for a festive occasion with good cheese.

The Champagne House

Champagne Bollinger

Bollinger is not a champagne that explains itself – it reveals itself. Since 1829, the house in Aÿ has operated according to the same principles: meticulous craftsmanship, Pinot Noir at its core, and maturity as a mark of quality.

What sets Bollinger apart from many others: The wines are vinified in genuine oak barrels – a process that hardly anyone else undertakes anymore. Riddling and disgorging are done by hand. No shortcuts, no simplifications.

Whether the approachable Special Cuvée or the legendary Vieilles Vignes Françaises from pre-phylloxera vines – there is real attitude in every glass.
