Blason de L'Evangile

Blason de L'Évangile is the second wine of Château L'Évangile – and in Pomerol that means: no compromise, but the same care on younger vines and slightly different plots.

The château's roots date back to 1741 and it has been part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1990. Its location in Pomerol is privileged: an Atlantic-influenced climate, well-drained gravel soils over a layer of clay – ideal conditions for Merlot. The blend reflects this: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc . The château's total production is around 60,000 bottles per year, with Blason accounting for a smaller portion of that.

In the glass, the wine displays the typical Pomerol profile: dark cherry, plum, and a hint of graphite, underpinned by subtle toasty notes from oak aging. The Merlot component provides a velvety mouthfeel and rounded tannins, while the Cabernet Franc contributes structure and a spicy-floral note to the finish.

Serving suggestion: Serve at 16–17 °C. Drinking window: 5–10 years from harvest, depending on the vintage. Pairs well with veal fillet with morel sauce, entrecôte, or strong goat cheese.
