Ao Yun Red Wine from China 0.75L

Ao Yun comes from one of the most unlikely wine regions in the world: the highlands of Shangri-La in the Chinese province of Yunnan, at an altitude of over 2,200 meters at the foot of the Himalayas. The extreme altitude brings large daily temperature fluctuations, intense sunlight, and well-drained soils — conditions that drive Cabernet Sauvignon to produce concentrated, structured wines.

The 2018 is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (19%), Merlot (10%), Syrah (7%), and Petit Verdot (4%). In the glass, it shows dark berry fruit — blackberry, blackcurrant — with floral hints of violets, carried by a firm, ripe tannin structure. The finish is long, with spicy depth and a hint of dark chocolate.

Best served at 16–18 °C, ideally decanted one hour before drinking. Pairs with braised rack of lamb, duck breast with plum sauce, or strong hard cheese.
