Old Apricot
Apricots – known as Marillen in Austria – produce a particularly distinctive distillate when harvested fully ripe. The Birkenhof distillery in the Eifel region distills its Old Apricot brandy from hand-picked fruit and then ages the distillate in wooden barrels – hence the "Old" in the name.
In the glass, a golden distillate with aromas of dried apricot, almond, and a hint of vanilla. The finish is smooth and long. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C – the fruit notes are best enjoyed slightly warmed.
Neat in a nosing glass as a digestif, with almond pastries or dark chocolate. A harmonious accompaniment to desserts with peach, apricot or marzipan.
Eight generations, one passion: In the heart of the Westerwald, the family behind the Birkenhof has been distilling their spirits since 1848 – with stubbornness, craftsmanship and genuine enthusiasm.
What's created here is far more than just schnapps. Fine brandies that taste of fruit and time. Spirits that mature in cognac casks and possess a natural sweetness. And the Master Edition – for all those who want to know what true distilling craftsmanship can achieve.
No wonder the Birkenhof attracts 20,000 visitors annually.
