Mira Luna Wines – Provence with a signature
Six wines, one winery, two appellations: Domaine Mira Luna works in Provence with the classic grape varieties of the region—and interprets them more idiosyncratically than the image of pale terrace rosé would suggest. Three white wines, two rosés, and one red wine, all dry, between 11.90 and 19.90 euros.
Two appellations, two characters
Côtes de Provence is the origin that has shaped the style of dry, light Mediterranean rosé worldwide. Cinsault, Grenache, and Mourvèdre form the backbone there, and the Côtes de Provence Rosé from Mira Luna shows exactly this classic picture: light salmon pink, strawberry, white peach, plus a herbal line of lavender and thyme.
The Coteaux Varois en Provence is located further inland, in the cooler hinterland of the Var. The nights there are more continental than on the coast, and you can taste it: the wines get more acidity and more tension. The Coteaux Varois Rosé is therefore structured more tightly than many rosés from the sun-drenched coastal locations, and the Coteaux Varois Rolle—the grape is called Vermentino elsewhere—combines white blossoms and lemon zest with a salty-mineral finish.
The amphora line
Two wines from the estate do not mature in wood, but in clay vessels. The amphora gives off neither vanilla nor roasted aromas—it lets the wine breathe and the grape variety come through unfiltered. For the Syrah Amphora, this means: dark olive, black pepper, blackberry, and violet, with more finely polished tannins than in the classic barrique. The Cuvée Rolle Amphora, on the other hand, retains the immediate fruit of the Rolle grape and gains texture and minerality through contact with the unburnt clay.
Both come from the 2024 vintage, the other four wines from 2025.
Which wine goes with what
- As an aperitif or with seafood: the Coteaux Varois Rolle, chilled to 8 to 10 degrees
- With Mediterranean cuisine: both rosés—with ratatouille, grilled vegetables, fish from the grill
- With scallops, poultry with saffron, or Asian dishes with coconut milk: the Viognier, lush in peach, apricot, and orange blossom
- With lamb, ratatouille, or strong cheese: the Syrah Amphora at 16 to 18 degrees
