Winemakers without borders, wines with attitude
François Lurton is not a winemaker who stays in one place. He vinifies in France, Spain, and Argentina – not out of calculation, but because he is interested in what soils, climate, and old vines can make of a grape. The result is wines that do not illustrate their place of origin, but truly reflect it.
In the southern French Languedoc, Lurton manages Mas Janeil: old vines on Mediterranean soils that produce powerful, characterful red wines. With the Les Fumées Blanches, he simultaneously shows what Sauvignon Blanc can achieve when it stands on the right terroir – fresh, precise, with lively fruit and a clear line.
