For over three centuries, every bottle from Domaine de Montrose has borne the family crest with the three lizards — a symbol that has stood for the Coste family's standards since 1701. Today, father Bernard and son Olivier run the winery near the small southern French town of Pézenas, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Languedoc with its limestone and clay-rich soils, which give the wines structure and freshness.
The winery's philosophy is inspired by a verse from the ancient poet Sappho: "What is beautiful is good. And who is good will soon be beautiful." This is no empty motto — it is evident in the care with which grapes are harvested and wines are vinified.
