Distilleries and Domaines de Provence
Distilleries et Domaines de Provence has been distilling the soul of Provence into a bottle since 1898 – and you can feel it with the first sip.
In picturesque Forcalquier, high up in the Haute-Provence, thyme, wormwood, and verbena grow wild and untamed. Here, they are harvested by hand and distilled using traditional methods. The result: spirits that smell of garrigue, summer, and craftsmanship.
Their most famous creation is the Henri Bardouin – a Pastis Grand Cru that has garnered acclaim far beyond the borders of Provence. They also produce the botanical Gin XII , fruity aperitifs such as the peach wine Rinquinquin , and aromatic liqueurs like Farigoule .
Distilleries et Domaines de Provence —
Haute-Provence in the bottle
Distilleries et Domaines de Provence has been distilling spirits from local wild herbs in Forcalquier , a small town in Haute-Provence, since 1898. Thyme, wormwood, verbena, and lavender grow here on barren limestone soils, are harvested by hand, and distilled according to time-honored recipes—a craft passed down through four generations.
The most famous product is Henri Bardouin, a Pastis Grand Cru with over 65 botanicals, which clearly distinguishes itself from industrial Pastis brands: less sweet, more complex in its herbal notes, with a long finish of garrigue and anise. Alongside these are the botanical Gin XII, the peach aperitif Rinquinquin, and the thyme liqueur Farigoule—each product a distillate of the Provençal landscape.
Those who drink the spirits from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence do not get mass-produced goods, but rather the result of a very specific place: the dry heat of Haute-Provence, its wild herbs and the knowledge of a distillery that has never stopped working according to old methods.
