Château Chasse-Spleen —
classic Bordeaux with attitude
Château Chasse-Spleen is located in Moulis-en-Médoc, one of the quiet centers of the Left Bank — not a Grand Cru Classé, but for decades one of the most reliable estates in the entire Médoc. The name goes back to Lord Byron, who praised the wine as a remedy for melancholy. Whether that is true remains to be seen — the wines certainly speak for themselves.
Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the cellar, supplemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The result is red wines with a firm tannin structure, dark fruit, and the typical Médoc gravitas: cassis, cedarwood, a hint of graphite. Not a wine for a quick evening — rather for those who bring time or have a few years of patience.
At Vinoscout, you will find two positions from the estate: an accessible entry for an uncomplicated Bordeaux evening as well as a premium bottle for special occasions. Both pair well with hearty meat, mature cheese, or a quiet evening with a good book.
