José L. Ferrer – a Mallorcan wine pioneer. In 1931, he founded the winery in Binissalem and introduced innovations: new grape varieties, bottling, aging in oak barrels, and exports to Europe and the USA. Today, the estate is still located just outside Binissalem. Four sections tell its story: the oldest cellar from 1931, an extension from 1960, the temperature-controlled stainless steel storage facilities from 1995 – and in 2006, the great-grandchildren joined the family business, adding new storage facilities and oak vats for small batches of high-quality wines. Tradition meets innovation. Mallorca, as it tastes.

José Luis Ferrer —
Mallorca's oldest winery from Binissalem
Bodegas José Luis Ferrer is one of the pioneers of Mallorcan viticulture. When José L. Ferrer founded his winery in Binissalem in 1931, bottling on the island was still the exception — he introduced it, as well as aging in oak barrels and exporting to Europe and the USA. What was unusual back then is now the foundation of a winery that has outlasted four generations.
The cellar tells this story in layers: the oldest vault dates back to the founding year 1931, an extension followed in 1960. In 1995, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks were added, and in 2006, the great-grandchildren expanded the estate with new tanks as well as oak vats for artisanally produced wines in small quantities. Every era has left its mark — in the building as well as in the style of the wines.
The focus is on the island's indigenous grape varieties, above all Manto Negro and Callet for the red wines and Prensal Blanc for the whites. The wines reflect the Mediterranean terroir of Mallorca: ripe fruit, structured tannins, a style that combines tradition and artisanal care.
