Antonio Nadal –
Mallorca’s liqueur art from Marratxí
Antonio Nadal Distilleries is one of the oldest liqueur producers in the Balearic Islands. Founded in 1898 in Buñola, a small town in the Tramuntana Mountains, its history began with artisanal liqueur production for the island – and by the 1920s with exports to South America. The civil war interrupted this growth, but the tradition survived and was revived in the post-war period.
In the 1980s, the Morey-Garau family took over the company in its third generation and consistently drove change forward: investments in equipment, processes, and capacity. In 1986, 80,000 liters left the distillery; by 2000, this figure had already reached two million – growth achieved without any loss of quality. In 1998, the company relocated to Marratxí , where the distillery continues to produce today.
What distinguishes Antonio Nadal is the balance between continuity and innovation: Mallorcan raw materials and recipes that have stood the test of time, combined with modern distillation techniques. The liqueurs embody the island – Mediterranean herbs, citrus fruits, almonds – and are equally enjoyable neat or as a base for classic cocktails.
