Bodega El Meson
Bodega El Meson –
Rioja Alavesa between the Ebro and Atlantic climate
Bodega El Meson is located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa , the northernmost and coolest part of Rioja, where the Ebro River shapes the landscape. The vineyards grow on calcareous and clay soils, which impart structure and a fine mineral note to the wine. Closer to the river, the soils change to alluvial deposits and gravel – a change that is reflected in the texture of the wines.
The region's Atlantic climate ensures warm, sunny days and cool nights. This temperature range slows down the ripening of the grapes and preserves their natural acidity – crucial for the freshness and aging potential of the wines. The main grape varieties cultivated are Tempranillo and Garnacha for the reds, and Viura for the estate's white wines.
The wines of Bodega El Meson represent a classic Iberian style with regional character: earthy depth, ripe red fruit and a structure that goes well with lamb dishes, tapas or aged Manchego cheese.
