Boas Quintas – founded in 1991 by Nuno Cancela de Abreu, who drew on his family's winemaking traditions and brought all his knowledge to the Dão region. His goal: high-quality wines with a distinctive character. Over the years, the company grew – without losing its family atmosphere. This led to the creation of Quinta da Fonte do Ouro, Quinta da Giesta in the Dão region, and Herdade de Gâmbia on the Setúbal Peninsula. The philosophy: diversity instead of uniformity. Each wine should retain its own unique nature and character. Awarded "Company of the Year 2016" (Revista de Vinhos). Portuguese wine culture as it should be.

three quintas, one claim: wines with their own character
Boas Quintas was founded in 1991, when Nuno Cancela de Abreu reinterpreted his family's winemaking tradition in the Dão – with the goal of producing wines that are not interchangeable, but clearly show their origin. Today, the company comprises three estates: Quinta da Fonte do Ouro, Quinta da Giesta in the Dão, and Herdade de Gâmbia on the Setúbal Peninsula.
Each of these estates stands for its own terroir and its own style. The Dão, characterized by granite and cool nights, produces red wines with structure and freshness – classically based on Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. The Herdade de Gâmbia in the warmer south complements the portfolio with riper, fuller-bodied wines. Diversity here is not a marketing promise, but the result of conscious decisions in the vineyard and in the cellar.
In 2016, Boas Quintas was named "Company of the Year" by Revista de Vinhos – recognition for consistent quality work over more than two decades. Those looking for Portuguese wine culture beyond the big names will find wines with attitude here.
