Fonte do Ouro Tinto

The grapes for Fonte do Ouro grow on granite-rich, slightly acidic, and nutrient-poor soils in the Dão DOC. The wine is aged for six months in French oak barrels. The result is a ruby-colored wine with aromas reminiscent of red fruit, toasty notes, and Earl Grey tea. On the palate, the wine is smooth with elegant tannins typical of Dão DOC wines. It received 88 points at the International Wine Challenge 2017 for the 2016 vintage and a bronze medal for the 2015 vintage. It also received 92 points at Wine & Spirits 2017 for the 2015 vintage.

Boas Quintas – founded in 1991 by Nuno Cancela de Abreu, who drew on his family's winemaking traditions and brought all his knowledge to the Dão region. His goal: high-quality wines with a distinctive character. Over the years, the company grew – without losing its family atmosphere. This led to the creation of Quinta da Fonte do Ouro, Quinta da Giesta in the Dão region, and Herdade de Gâmbia on the Setúbal Peninsula. The philosophy: diversity instead of uniformity. Each wine should retain its own unique nature and character. Awarded "Company of the Year 2016" (Revista de Vinhos). Portuguese wine culture as it should be.
