Alamos is the winery of the Catena family , who began cultivating wine in Mendoza in 1902—after emigrating from Italy to Argentina at the end of the 19th century. Today, the Catenas are in their fifth generation of winemaking, and Alamos is their expression of the region's classic strengths: altitudes between 900 and 1,500 meters, intense sunshine, cool nights, and the meltwater from the Andes.

The vineyards are located in Mendoza's most renowned wine-growing regions, including Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. The terroir noticeably shapes the style of the wines: the Malbec displays dark berry fruit and velvety tannins, while the Chardonnay offers a fresh acidity with a creamy texture.
