Woodcutter's Sémillon
The "Road to Perfection" of the Torbreck winery began in 1994 in the Barossa Valley. The goal: to create exceptional and devoted red and white wines in a Rhône style that reflect the best of the sites in the famous Australian Barossa Valley. A touch of European tradition blows through the vineyards, where classic Rhône grape varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre were already being cultivated in 1840. Furthermore, Torbreck invested in the most valuable sites that the Barossa has to offer. The historic "Hillside" vineyard in Lyndoch or "The Laird" in the sub-region of Marananga. To this day, Torbreck's top wines bear their names. The journey is the reward: "We remind ourselves daily that the best Barossa grapes are yet to be harvested and the best Torbreck wines are yet to be made!", says Pete Kight, owner of Torbreck Vintners since 2013. Together with Ian Hongell, Chief Winemaker, and the rest of the team, they live this mantra in every step of their work – on the stony road to perfection.
