Tinto Pesquera Reserva

The Pesquera Reserva from Alejandro Fernández is one of the wines that established Ribera del Duero on the world map – concentrated, multi-layered, and with real aging potential.

Alejandro Fernández laid the foundation for modern wine culture in the Duero Valley in 1972 with the Finca Pesquera. His Reserva matures for several years in American oak before it comes onto the market – a style that shaped the wine long before Ribera del Duero became a DO.

In the glass, it glows in a powerful garnet red with blue-red reflections. In the nose, black blackberry, cassis, and vanilla, plus a hint of roasted aromas from the barrel aging. On the palate, dense and concentrated – dried dark fruits, velvety tannins, long finish with depth.

Alejandro Fernández

Alejandro Fernández – pioneer spirit from the Ribera del Duero. While others were clearing vines for sugar beets in the 70s, he was planting. The rise from farm worker to legendary winemaker: at 42, he took out a loan, bought a vineyard and old winery equipment – and founded Tinto Pesquera.

His motto: uncompromising quality, lots of extract, Tempranillo. The region was unknown at the time – he made it famous.

To this day, down-to-earth, restless, master of his craft. He founded three more wineries for his daughters. Alejandro Fernández – a name, a legend.
