Tinto Pesquera Crianza DO

Pure Tempranillo from the heart of the Ribera del Duero — the Pesquera Crianza from Alejandro Fernández is one of the wines that have helped shape the reputation of this region.

In the 1970s, Alejandro Fernández began his work at Pesquera de Duero with the belief that Tempranillo alone—without blending—was capable of producing world-class red wine. The estate has remained true to this conviction ever since. The vines grow on the Castilian plateau at an altitude of over 750 meters, with a continental climate: hot summers and cold nights, which contribute to both concentration and acidity. The comparison to Château Pétrus, once made by Robert Parker, brought Pesquera international acclaim.

After 18 months of aging in American oak and a further six months in the bottle, the wine displays an intense ruby red color with bluish highlights in the glass. The nose offers aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and vanilla, underpinned by hints of toasted oak and leather. On the palate, medium to firm tannins, well-integrated sweetness, and a long, spicy finish with coffee notes.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drinking window until approximately 2027. Pairs well with: leg of lamb with herbs, grilled Ibérico Secreto or mature Manchego.
