Dehesa La Granja
The grapes for Dehesa La Granja grow in a unique microclimate shaped by the waters of the Guareña River. In the glass, it displays a cherry-red color, while the nose offers aromas reminiscent of jam and dark berries. A robust, full-bodied red with beautiful tannins, the wine's oak aging is evident. It is aged in American oak barrels. The rise of Alejandro Fernández from humble beginnings to one of the most important winemakers is legendary. Born in Pesquera, a village on the Duero River, he dreamed of owning his own winery from early childhood. However, the first half of his life brought him no closer to this dream. He worked as a farm laborer, a carpenter, and finally as a sales representative for an agricultural machinery factory. Only when the factory went out of business did Alejandro begin to build his own life. He took out a loan, bought a vineyard and some old cellar equipment, and named the winery after his birthplace: Tinto Pesquera – the red from Pesquera. That was in 1974. Alejandro was 42 years old, and his home, Ribera del Duero, was a largely unknown wine region. But that was about to change. The self-taught winemaker focused on uncompromising quality, high extract, and above all, the Tempranillo grape. He increasingly won over admirers of his rich and concentrated wines. One of them was the young Robert M. Parker, whose discovery of Tinto Pesquera, dubbed "Spain's Pétrus," propelled Alejandro and, with him, the entire region to stardom. But despite his global success, Alejandro Fernández remained incredibly down-to-earth and, above all, tireless. He founded three more wineries in Ribera, La Mancha, and the Tierra del Vino de Zamora for his four daughters, proving time and again that he was the undisputed master of Tempranillo.

Alejandro Fernández – a pioneering spirit from the Ribera del Duero. While others were clearing vines for sugar beets in the 1970s, he was planting. His rise from farm laborer to legendary winemaker: at 42, he took out a loan, bought a vineyard and old winery equipment – and founded Tinto Pesquera. His motto: uncompromising quality, high extract, Tempranillo. The region was unknown at the time – he made it famous. To this day, he remains down-to-earth, tireless, and a master of his craft. He founded three more wineries for his daughters. Alejandro Fernández – a name, a legend.
