With a total area of ​​89 hectares – 23 of which are planted with vines – Mariannenaue, named after its former owner, Princess Marianne of Prussia, is the largest island in the Rhine. It is one of only three wine islands in all of Germany. With its very special microclimate – comparable to the consistently mild temperatures of Mainau Island in Lake Constance – Mariannenaue presents a unique challenge for vineyard management. A head start of one to two weeks in the growing season, the island offers optimal conditions for fully ripened, healthy grapes.
