Sauvignon Blanc Goldberg Fumé Réserve dry QW Pfalz

A Sauvignon Blanc in the Fumé style from the Palatinate that clearly deviates from the grassy-fresh standard of the grape variety with smoke and roasted aromas. It stands in deep golden yellow in the glass.

The Wageck Pfaffmann winery bottles it as Goldberg Fumé Réserve dry, 2024 vintage. The nose is dense and multi-layered: smoke, roasted hazelnut, and yellow bell pepper meet blackcurrant, accompanied by chamomile blossom and a hint of cardamom.

On the palate, the wine feels tight and dense; the texture is full-bodied, carried by ripe phenol. The acidity is clearly integrated; lemon, lime, and white grapefruit give the wine drive. The finish is long and structured.

Recommendation: Serve at 10 to 12 °C, not too cold, so that the roasted notes can unfold. It pairs well with fried zander, goat cheese, or asparagus with brown butter, and also with poultry with herbs.
