Rabaja Barbaresco
The Rabaja is one of the most respected single vineyards in the Barbaresco area – and Faletto extracts a wine from it that shows a rare balance of power and finesse.
The Faletto winery is located in the heart of Piedmont, amidst the hills around Barbaresco. The Rabaja site is considered one of the best crus of the appellation: deep soils of Torino limestone marl, good altitude, long growing season. Nebbiolo, the only grape variety in Barbaresco, needs exactly these conditions to reach its full potential.
In the glass, it presents a ruby-red, slightly garnet-colored appearance. On the nose, dried rose, cherry jam, and a distinct hint of tar and licorice – typical Nebbiolo signature. On the palate, firm but ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long finish with notes of tobacco and cedar wood. A wine that still has years ahead of it.
Now with decanting (at least 2 hours) or at its peak from 2027.
Temperature: 17–18 °C.
Food: Braised beef shoulder, wild hare ragù, mature Parmigiano Reggiano, or truffle pasta.
