Puro Corte d'Oro

Deep dark red with a violet shimmer — the Puro Corte d'Oro shows in the glass where it comes from: from the best parcels of Dieter Meier's Argentinian winery Ojo de Agua in Mendoza.

Swiss artist and entrepreneur Dieter Meier has run the winery in the province of Mendoza since the early 2000s. The name d'Oro — the golden nugget — represents the top selection from the vineyards: a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot , in which each grape variety contributes its strengths.

On the nose, ripe plum and dark cherry, along with subtle vanilla and a hint of oak from barrel aging. On the palate, the cuvée is compact: velvety tannins, medium length, a warm finish with a touch of spice. Not an angular youngster, but a well-balanced red wine with substance.

  • Dishes: Grilled beef, leg of lamb with herbs, mature Manchego cheese
  • Temperature: 16–18 °C

Puro Dieter Meier

Those of us who are older might still remember the Swiss pop duo Yello with singer Dieter Meier. But music is just one passion of this multifaceted artist and successful businessman. Another great passion is organic farming. For years, Meier has been a committed organic farmer in Argentina: he raises cattle in the Pampa Humeda and produces wine in Agrelo Alto. Both are certified organic.
