Pomares Tinto (red)

Pomares Tinto (red)
Six months in American and French oak – that is enough for the Pomares Tinto to give structure to the Douro fruit weight without overlaying it.
Quinta Nova manages its Quintas in the Douro Superior, one of the warmest and driest locations in the entire Douro Valley. The natural terraces with slate and granite soils force deep roots and concentrated grapes – the basis for the dense style of the house.
In the glass, the Pomares Tinto shows a rich ruby red. On the nose, ripe blackberry and plum, accompanied by a hint of roasted aromas and vanilla from the barrel aging. On the palate, juicy with round tannins, the finish remains present.
- Food: Grilled lamb, Ibérico pork, strong goat cheese

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo boasts a history spanning over 250 years, and buildings dating back to its founding still stand. The winery is among the oldest in the Douro region – specifically, in the Cima Corgo sub-region. Here, on the right bank of the Douro River, the vineyards cover 120 hectares, 85 of which are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ancient vines grow on the typical stone terraces. In 1999, the Amorin family acquired the winery, which has since become the largest family-owned winery in Portugal.
