Neipperger Schlossberg Spätburgunder *** GG QW Württemberg - Grosses Lage 0.75L
The Schlossberg in Neipperg is one of the most renowned single vineyards in Württemberg — a limestone soil that gives the Pinot Noir exactly the tension that characterizes great Pinot Noirs. The Graf Neipperg winery has been cultivating this site for generations and is one of the addresses that have proven that Württemberg competes in the German Pinot Noir competition.
In the glass, the GG shows a cool fruit of sour cherry and blackberry, underscored by fine notes of cedar wood and a hint of dried violets. The manual mash fermentation and 18 months of barrique aging in new and used wood shape the structure and depth: silky tannin, lively acidity, a long, slightly spicy finish with a mineral aftertaste.
Those who bring patience will be rewarded. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C. At the table, it pairs well with braised venison, duck breast with wild mushrooms, or a matured Époisses.
