Montaraz Unico Monastrell

Montaraz Unico Monastrell
Monastrell from its origin: Murcia's most famous grape variety shows here what it can do when grown on barren soils in the Spanish hinterland and vinified by experienced hands.
Bodegas Hijos de Juan Gil is one of the leading wineries in the Murcia region. The Gil family has been working with Monastrell for generations – a grape variety that withstands extreme heat and rewards them with concentrated, dark-fruited wines. Montaraz Unico is their approachable entry point into the range: four months of aging in oak barrels, which give the wine structure without overpowering it.
In the glass, it shines a rich ruby red. The nose reveals black cherry, blackberry, and a hint of vanilla, along with a mineral depth reminiscent of dry slate. On the palate, it is velvety, with a pleasant fullness and well-integrated tannins. The finish is warm and medium-long – typical of Monastrell, without feeling heavy.
