Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc

Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc
A Sauvignon Blanc from Rueda — one of the few Spanish white wines that is stylistically closer to the Loire than to the usual Iberian white wines.
Marqués de Riscal was the first winery in Rueda to introduce the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety in 1974 and now cultivates it on 70 hectares. The high plateau of Castile, at an altitude of over 700 meters, provides the cool nights that give the Sauvignon Blanc its freshness and aromatic vibrancy.
In the glass, it displays a pale yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose offers fresh herbs—nettle, a hint of white currant—and a distinct citrus note. The palate is light and direct, with lively acidity and a dry, crisp finish without any heaviness.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Best enjoyed young — the fruit and freshness are the main selling points of this wine. Pairs well with grilled sea bass, goat cheese salads, asparagus dishes, or as a simple aperitif on warm evenings.
