Maranges Village Rouge

Maranges lies at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune – one of Burgundy's quiet addresses, where Pinot Noir grows on calcareous clay and limestone soil to produce a wine that brings more substance than its price would suggest.

Domaine Bertrand Bachelet manages its sites in Maranges with a focus on careful hand-harvesting and gentle vinification – typical of the small-scale family domaines of this appellation that work far from the hustle and bustle of the Grands Crus.

In the glass, the 2023 shows intense cherry aromas, plus a hint of black pepper and some earth. Medium body, fine tannins with a bit of bite still – a sign that the wine still has some time ahead of it. The finish is clear and spicy.

Best served between 16 and 18 °C. Pairs well with Coq au Vin, veal medallions with mushroom cream sauce, or a ripe Époisses.
