Order of Malta Merlot dry

An Austrian Merlot with the maturity and structure of an aged Burgundy: dark ruby red in the glass, velvety tannins, long finish.

The Schloßweingut Malteser Ritterorden is one of Austria's most traditional wineries — operated by the Sovereign Order of Malta, whose winemaking history dates back centuries. The vineyards are located in the Lower Austrian region, where the continental climate favors Merlot with good ripeness and aromatic density.

Tobacco, dark chocolate, and fine roasted aromas appear on the nose — a clear sign of barrel aging with substance. On the palate, the wine appears elegant: a fine touch of chocolate, well-integrated wood notes, and noticeable extract sweetness. The tannins are fully ripe and soft, the finish long and spicy. Not a wine that screams for attention — but one that convinces through harmony.
