Lisa Bunn Bunn Voyage red wine cuvée
A red wine from Rheinhessen that shows what Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot can achieve together — if you give them time.
Lisa Bunn runs her vineyard in Nierstein on the Rhine. The Bunn Voyage cuvée combines 60% Cabernet Sauvignon (4-year-old vines) with 40% Merlot (13-year-old vines). The grapes were hand-harvested on October 21st, with an average must weight of 92° Oechsle—ripe fruit with considerable substance. After fermentation, the wine matured for 12 months in French oak barriques .
In the glass, it reveals dark blackberry jam, a distinct peppery note, and a hint of cedar from barrel aging. The tannins are present but delicate—not a heavy, oaky wine, but one with grip and a smooth texture. Medium to full-bodied, with a pleasantly long finish.
- Dishes: Leg of lamb, beef brisket or spicy pasta with ragù
