Lisa Bunn Nierstein Pinot Noir from the Rotliegend

A Pinot Noir from Nierstein that shows what Rheinhessen's red sandstone can do: structure, depth, and an unmistakable mineral vein.

Weingut Lisa Bunn works in Nierstein with sites on the characteristic "Rotliegend" — a subsoil of reddish Permian sandstone that gives the wine an earthy spice and taut contour. The winery is one of the reliable addresses in the region when it comes to varietally typical, artisanally produced Pinot Noir.

In the glass, it shows a medium-deep cherry red. The nose brings ripe sour cherry, some raspberry confit, and a fine hint of cedar wood and clove — typical for Pinot Noir from barrel aging. On the palate, medium body, silky tannins, lively acidity, and a pleasantly dry finish with a slightly earthy note.
