La Motte Classic Collection Chardonnay

La Motte Classic Collection Chardonnay
A Chardonnay from the Franschhoek Valley – one of South Africa's most prestigious wine regions, characterized by cool mountain winds and granite soils that give the wine its freshness.
La Motte belongs to the Rupert family and has been cultivating vineyards at the foot of the Franschhoek Mountains for generations. The Classic Collection stands for approachable, cleanly vinified wines with a regionally typical character – part of the aging takes place in oak barrels, which gives the Chardonnay structure without heaviness.
In the glass , citrus, nectarine, and a hint of cashew are revealed, along with a delicate yeasty note indicative of barrel aging. On the palate, it is juicy and vibrant, with a clear citrus profile and ripe peach on the finish – not a buttery, heavy Chardonnay, but a fresh, refined style.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C . Drink now. Pairs well with grilled sea bass, chicken in lemon sauce, or a mild goat cheese.

The La Motte winery in Franschhoek is a meeting point of the fine arts – winemaking and the exquisite vocal artistry of Henneli Rupert, South Africa's star mezzo-soprano and winery owner. She took over the estate, acquired by her father Dr. Anton Rupert in 1970, after his death and today, together with her husband Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg, CEO of La Motte, leads the company. Edmund Terblanche is responsible for the winemaking at La Motte. Under his guidance, the La Motte Sauvignon Blanc has become one of the benchmark wines in South Africa, a staple on restaurant wine lists. For red wines, La Motte focuses heavily on Syrah and Syrah blends.
