J. Charpentier Réserve Brut

This Réserve Brut from J. Charpentier shows what Pinot Meunier can achieve as a lead grape variety: a lively, aromatically clear Champagne with character and accessibility at the same time.

The Charpentier family has been growing grapes in Villers-sous-Châtillon in the Vallée de la Marne since 1920 — today in the fifth generation, led by Claudine and Jacky Charpentier together with their children Jean-Marc and Marie-Pierre. The winery works completely independently, from the vineyard to the bottle, and relies on deep local knowledge instead of purchasing grapes.

In the glass, the Réserve Brut shows a fresh aroma profile: green apple fruit, citrus notes, and a floral bouquet form the base. With 5.8 g/l dosage, it remains clearly on the dry side — the perlage is fine and persistent, the finish clear with a hint of fresh mint.

Well chilled to 8–10 °C as an aperitif, with oysters, scallops, or light sushi. If drinking it with food, opt for goat cheese or a seafood risotto.
