The vines for the Riparosso by Illuminati grow at an altitude of approx. 250 meters above sea level in Controguerra, which is part of Abruzzo, on loamy soils of medium structure.
The grapes are harvested in the first ten days of October and then gently pressed. The wine ages in Slavonian oak barrels and then for another 2-3 months in the bottle before it can be sold.
The Riparosso then presents itself in the glass as ruby red with slight purple reflections. The nose is dominated by aromas of red fruits, which are pleasant and persistent. On the palate, it develops a full, deep body, appearing ripe, harmonious, and round, with a finish reminiscent of licorice.

Powerful, but without rough edges: The Montepulciano brings red fruits, a full body, and a finish with a licorice note. Ripe, round, and harmonious – not a wine that polarizes.
What does the Riparosso pair best with?
It is a true all-rounder at the table: with lamb, game, osso buco, and braised dishes just as well as with pasta, pizza, or a mature Pecorino. It also cuts a fine figure with a good steak from the grill.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best at 16–18 °C – so slightly cooler than room temperature. In summer, half an hour in the fridge before opening is worth it.
Is the Riparosso dry?
Yes, completely dry. The body appears full and soft due to the ripe tannins and the fruit, without residual sugar behind it.
How long can I store the wine?
The Riparosso is ready for sale after its bottle aging of 2–3 months and is designed for accessible enjoyment. Stored cool, dark, and lying down, it lasts for several years without any problems.
