Hugel Pinot Gris Classic
Pinot Gris from Alsace is no easy feat – and Hugel's Classic is no exception. A rich texture, ripe fruit, a hint of spice: a white wine with substance.
Hugel & Fils is one of the most renowned names in Alsace. Based in Riquewihr since 1639, the family has significantly shaped Alsatian wine law – the concept of Vendanges Tardives originated with them. The Classic line showcases the typical house style: approachable, fruit-forward, and varietal.
In the glass, apricot and ripe pear are revealed, underpinned by a hint of pistachio and delicate vanilla. The palate is broad and oily in texture – typical of the grape variety – with a fresh acidity that holds everything together. The finish is round and lingering, with a slightly spicy note.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with tarte flambée with crème fraîche , strong Munster cheese, or a classic Coq au Riesling. Also a solid choice to accompany Asian curries with coconut milk. Drinking window: now until 2027.
