HirschRudel herbal liqueur consists of 31 wild herbs (lovage root, gentian, valerian root, centaury, angelica root, coriander, speedwell herb). The liqueur is a tribute to Dirk Verpoorten's grandmother Elly, who first created the recipe in Straubing, Bavaria. Bottled by hand and in limited small quantities, this German specialty will go on sale for the first time in a 0.5l bottle.
Warm and pleasant on the nose, one discovers traces of coffee, dark chocolate, anise, and caramel.
On the palate, wonderfully powerful, round notes of vanilla, chocolate, and anise unfold, ending in a malty sweetness that is perfectly rounded off by traces of spices. Breathtaking finish with an aroma of sweet caramel dessert and roasted nuts.

How is the Hirschrudel best drunk?
Well-chilled, neat as a digestif, or as a base for a long drink — for example, with cola or ginger beer. The sweet-spicy base supports both.
At what temperature should it be served?
Best well-chilled, straight from the fridge or over ice. The cold slightly dampens the sweetness and allows the herbal notes to emerge more clearly.
What is in the 31 herbs — can you taste them individually?
Not individually, but as an ensemble. Gentian and centaury bring bitter structure, angelica and coriander bring spice, valerian and lovage bring depth. Nevertheless, chocolate, anise, and caramel are in the foreground.
How big is the bottle and how much alcohol does the liqueur have?
The bottle holds 0.5 liters, and the alcohol content is 35% vol. It is bottled by hand in limited small batches.
How do I store the Hirschrudel after opening?
Store upright and sealed in the fridge. The high alcohol content of 35% vol stabilizes the liqueur — flavor loss occurs primarily due to heat and light, not oxidation.
