HESS Select Chardonnay Monterey

A Californian Chardonnay that focuses on freshness – without the heavy buttery oak that puts many drinkers off this style.

Hess Collection Winery in Napa Valley sources the grapes for this wine from the Shirtail Creek Vineyard in Monterey County. The region's coastal climate—cool ocean air from the Pacific and a long growing season—ensures natural freshness and preserves fruit aromas. Part of the wine was fermented in barriques, which gives the Chardonnay some structure without masking its fruit character.

The glass reveals green apple, ripe pear, and peach , along with a lively citrus note and a hint of tropical fruit – pineapple or guava. The palate is lean, the acidity invigorating without being sharp, and the finish short and clean.

Hess Collection Winery

The Hess Collection – for the love of art and wine. The reserved Swiss winemaker Donald Hess unites wineries in Napa Valley, South Africa, Australia, and Argentina under his name. Each boasts its own art collection – the largest in California. Particularly captivating are the vineyards on Mount Veeder, 600 meters above Napa Valley. Volcanic soil and cooling Pacific breezes create ideal conditions for producing top-quality wines. The vinification of the Cabernet Sauvignons in open stainless steel tanks with gentle agitation is unique. This results in fewer tannins and more flavor. Hess takes unconventional paths – all for one thing: quality.
