Hedges Family Estate Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Hedges Family Estate Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain – one of the warmest and most mineral AVAs in Washington State, where the basalt soils and extreme daily temperature fluctuations are known for concentrated, structure-rich red wines.
The family winery Hedges is one of the pioneers of this site: Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges have been growing grapes on Red Mountain since 1987, long before the region gained international attention. The vineyards are located at an altitude of around 300 meters; the long, hot summer days and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly and keep the acidity lively.
In the glass, the Cabernet shows deep ruby red. On the nose, blackberry, cassis, and a clear undertone of cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper – plus vanilla and cocoa, which indicate barrique aging. Full-bodied on the palate with ripe, firmly integrated tannins, straightforward acidity, and a long, spicy-dark finish.
- Food: Dry-aged ribeye, braised lamb shoulder, hard cheese like Manchego
- Temperature: 17–18 °C
