Grappa di Barolo e Barbaresco - Margaux Cask Finish 0.7L

This grappa from Piedmont bears two of the most famous names in Italian viticulture in its title: Barolo and Barbaresco. Bocchino, one of the most traditional grappa distilleries in Piedmont based in Canelli, has been distilling the pomace of the great Nebbiolo vineyards for over a century — and the Margaux Cask Finish gives this distillate an additional dimension that clearly distinguishes it from a classic young grappa.

The glass shows an intense amber. The nose is complex: piquant spice meets floral tones, including a hint of dried violets — typical for Nebbiolo pomace. On the palate, nutmeg, spice notes, and a touch of orange peel follow. The finish is long and velvety, without the rough edge known from simpler grappas.

It unfolds its aroma profile best when enjoyed neat at room temperature — as a classic digestif after a Piedmontese meal with tajarin, brasato al Barolo, or ripe Castelmagno. If you like, give it a few minutes in the glass shortly before pouring.

The Distillery

Bocchino

Bocchino has stood for Piedmontese grappa tradition for generations. The distillery from Canelli in the heart of Monferrato processes only fresh pomace from Piedmont – Moscato, Barbera, Nebbiolo – and distills it in small copper stills. The result: characterful grappas with a clear origin, aromatic depth, and a velvety finish. Pure after a meal, slightly tempered at about 14–16 °C.
